Boating fun on New Year's Day

Happy New Year! Hope you've had a wonderful Holiday season and a fantastic start to 2016. We had a busy but enjoyable time entertaining family and friends and doing some major spring cleaning around the house.

On the first day of 2016, we took Alexander out boating for the very first time ever. We weren't sure how he was going to react and were pleased to find he was a real natural on the boat; so calm and composed and not one bit frightened or sea sick. He even asked Daddy to "Go faster! Faster!" I guess it's in his DNA (daddy's side, not mine).
We managed to find a sandy alcove not far from where we launched the boat and that's where we decided to stop for a couple of hours to explore and swim.
Alex is like a sponge now and he is learning so many new things everyday. That day he learnt there were "many reeds" in the water which made it slippery or "yucky" so we should always walk on sand. He also learnt that if the boat's anchor is "stuck in mud", we won't lose the boat. Not bad for a 2 year old eh?
What have you been up to these early days of 2016?

Happy 2016, Trishie! It's all been about food, friends and family for me these couple of weeks. Alexander is too cute. He's a fast learner!

Looks like Alexander had a blast on his first boating trip. I've been cleaning and decluttering as well in preparation for CNY next month.

You're so lucky to be going through summertime right now! Over here (in Europe), it's been cold and grey. Enjoy your sunny days!

The new year just crept up and so life has been going just as it has been! I have still yet to also take my first break since early December from dogsitting so that is probably adding on to the just "going as it has been" feeling. But we've been having good warm weather - although sometimes it dips really cold. I'm dreaming of spring already!

What a little tropper! I love the sound of a fun boat outing too, I imagine when he's old enough he'll love looking back at these photos :)

Sounds like you all had a great time, especially A!! He's grown so much, too. What wonderful memories you made....bet he'll want to go boating again SOON!!

We finally received our new house plans and I've been "gussying" up our current home to prepare for the sale. This is going to be a huge project! I hope to post some of this 'adventure' as we go through it.

Happy new year, Trishie!!
