Road test: Pure Smile teeth whitening

Here's a dirty little secret: I used to smoke. Not just an occasional naughty ciggie, mind you; I was a full time 10-20 cigarettes per day kind of heavy smoker. And ever since I quit years ago, I thought frequently about getting my teeth whitened to lighten of the nicotine stains on my teeth, but somehow never got around to it. So when Pure Smile Sydney offered me a free one hour cosmetic teeth whitening session, I didn't hesitate to say yes.

And without further ado, here is my brighter, whiter smile! Pretty brilliant isn't it?
The lowdown: I arrive at Pure smile Broadway for my one hour teeth whitening session. JB, greets me and shows me to my booth. I sit on an egg like chair and he talks me through process. First he assesses my teeth shade by holding a chart up against my teeth (I'm somewhere in the middle - not too bad I suppose). Then he gives me a sponge brush saturate with activation spray to apply to my teeth. My mouth foams a little and lucky JB is at hand with a bottle of water and a cup for me to gurgle and spit.

Next up, JB fills a mouth tray with Pure Smile's peroxide-free, all natural whitening gel and fits it into my mouth, hands me a pair of protection glasses (which I dutifully put on) and shines a dental grade LED light on my mouth. This process is repeated every 15 minutes for four times while I sit back and relax. At the end of the session, I rinse my teeth and that's it!

Pain/discomfort factor: There was no pain but at first I was slightly uncomfortable with having people on the travelator giving me curious glances. I soon got over it and just closed my eyes for a rest. I hadn't slept well the night before so was quite happy to get a bit of rest.
,
Results: The immediate result was brighter but very patchy teeth. JB explained that the patchiness was due to existing calcium spots which become more obvious right after the whitening process. He then reassured me the patchiness will disappear in around 30-45 minutes, which (thankfully) they did. The nicotine stains on my teeth have visibly lightened, leaving me with brighter smile.

Have you tried teeth whitening before? Will you?

Looks great Trishie. I drink lots of coffee which stains my teeth. This session on you had worked.

Your teeth look so sparkly and clean! Looks great! I have tried professional teeth whitening once, but it was so painful (my teeth are very sensitive) and I did not have a pleasant experience {my GUMS turned white...and stayed that way for weeks!}...so I am scared to try it again. If I do, I will definitely go to a different office!

Beautiful smile! I've tried two procedures and they lasted for a while but I'm considering getting veneers one day.

You look beautiful--what a lovely smile you have. So glad you were able to kick the habit. I know too many folks who died way too young--after years of smoking. Hugs, T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com

Trishie! I used to smoke too! Like heavy smoker - 10-20 a day! I quit about 6 years ago after I had all three of my wisdom teeth pulled out at once. I couldn't eat or smoke or do anything and I ended up quitting cold turkey! Both my husband and I have been wanting to try teeth whitening but haven't tried it. Yours look so pearly white! Gorgeous!

Oh wow - your teeth look great , Trishie! I want to try this too!! I was once a smoker too, not just a social one and took me a long time to quit. I only really said goodbye to ciggies at age 29. Yuck. I wish I could erase that part of my past. Def something to do while in Oz ;-)

Wow! It does look good seeing that your smile is accompanied with clean teeth =D I've not tried it before but your explanation does seem convincing. Anything procedure that requires no pain is all good for me.

Oh my goodness, your teeth look so much whiter! It is amazing what an improvement that whitening made. I have been thinking about getting my teeth whitened as well, I was just concerned that it wouldn't work very well. However, now I can see that it would probably be a really good idea to invest in that. Thanks for the great post, and also I'm so happy that you love your smile so much now! http://www.tlc-dental.com.au/our-services
