I find that healthy, well hydrated lips really does make a difference to my overall appearance. It's the one thing I can't fake as trying to cover up with lipsticks and glosses only serve to accentuate dry, cracked and peeling lips...don't you agree? So hallejulah for lip balms! In my opinion, a good lip balm is one that conditions and soothes lips against dryness and acts as a base for lip product application, and be able to do all that without irritating chapped lips. These five tick all my boxes:
People for Plants vanilla and cocoa butter organic lip balm - I was very lucky to be sent this organic lip balm for review and I'm so glad for it. It simply glides on and lips immediately feel soft and moist and stays that way all day. I'm not usually a fan of vanilla/cocoa butter smell but this
balm is so lightly scented I don't mind at all.
Kiehl's lip balm #1 - While I use the other lip balms to maintain healthy lips, this is the one I turn to when my lips are cracked, peeled and in need of immediate TLC. It soothes and heals quickly and restores much needed moisture - even Stu uses it in winter.
Aveda SPF 15 lip saver - I have to admit I didn't like this at first as it's a bit waxy but after a couple of uses, I found that it did such a great job of moisturising that I can overlook the waxy feel. It has great staying power and makes for a fab base for lipstick or lipgloss.
L'Occitane Shea Ultra Rich lip balm - This contains the brand's signature ingredient - shea butter which is extremely nourishing and does a fantastic job of keeping my lips feeling soft and hydrated. Also love the pleasant shea butter smell.
