Fab five: lip balms

I find that healthy, well hydrated lips really does make a difference to my overall appearance. It's the one thing I can't fake as trying to cover up with lipsticks and glosses only serve to accentuate dry, cracked and peeling lips...don't you agree? So hallejulah for lip balms! In my opinion, a good lip balm is one that conditions and soothes lips against dryness and acts as a base for lip product application, and be able to do all that without irritating chapped lips. These five tick all my boxes:
Burt's Bees Rejuvenating lip balm with acai berries - I find this to be rich but not too sticky and I love applying it just before sleep so I wake up with soft, moisturised lips. It has a gorgeous smell of berries without being cloyingly sweet.

People for Plants vanilla and cocoa butter organic lip balm - I was very lucky to be sent this organic lip balm for review and I'm so glad for it. It simply glides on and lips immediately feel soft and moist and stays that way all day. I'm not usually a fan of vanilla/cocoa butter smell but this balm is so lightly scented I don't mind at all.

Kiehl's lip balm #1 -  While I use the other lip balms to maintain healthy lips, this is the one I turn to when my lips are cracked, peeled and in need of immediate TLC. It soothes and heals quickly and restores much needed moisture - even Stu uses it in winter.

Aveda SPF 15 lip saver - I have to admit I didn't like this at first as it's a bit waxy but after a couple of uses, I found that it did such a great job of moisturising that I can overlook the waxy feel. It has great staying power and makes for a fab base for lipstick or lipgloss.

L'Occitane Shea Ultra Rich lip balm - This contains the brand's signature ingredient - shea butter which is extremely nourishing and does a fantastic job of keeping my lips feeling soft and hydrated. Also love the pleasant shea butter smell.

These look good. I've heard a lot of people raving about the Burt's Bees one. I tend to use Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream if my lips are really bad. Normally I'd use a nice fruity flavoured one :-)

Oh they all sound so good! I'd like to echo Ananka's comment with Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour. It's the first lip balm I've bought that lasts more than 20 minutes...eight hours is definitely pushing it but I reckon I get a good few hours of an application :)

I think I need the khiel's in my collection! Surprisingly even in the hot and humid singapore weather I constantly have sensitive and dry lips! Even though I slather them in an oil based lip balm every night!

I've tried few lip balms throughout the years but I found Lucas Pawpaw ointment agrees with my sensitive lips.
It's interesting to know there are good ones out there winch I could give a try. Thanks Trishie.

Enjoy your week

I have to agree that Kiehl's lip balm does a great job in healing cracked lips. If you can get your hands on Nuxe - it is the ultimate in overnight healing and plumping chapped lips. It's not a lip balm you would wear under lipstick though - but it smells gorgeous, like honey lemon. Burt's Bees is a classic - always works and sits well under lipstick.

I'm loving my EOS egg right now but have always been a fan of plain ol chapstick brand. Or maybe it was blistex but in the stick form.

I can't live without lip balms. My favourites are L'Occitane, Kiehl's and Burt Bees, I don't like it when it is so waxy. Great choices here Trishie.
