Banyan Tree Bintan

Every time we go back to Singapore, we make it a point to visit one other country. We had enough of flying so this year, we opted to take a 45 minute ferry ride to Bintan, Indonesia instead. Not sure if you've noticed, but when Stu and I holiday, we like to just lie around and do nothing. We decided to splurge on a one bedroom villa at Banyan Tree Bintan so if we didn't want to leave the room, we wouldn't need to. Which is exactly what we did.

As it turned out, we got upgraded to a two bedroom villa. Which was massive. It had two separate wings housing the each of the bedroom and bathroom with a kitchenette and central pavilion which overlooks our private infinity pool and the ocean beyond. There was a even front courtyard with a pond filled with fish.
We swam, read, napped, stared out at the ocean and generally just lazed around in the beautiful tropical surroundings. We enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner the first night and indulged in room service meals. Alexander spent a heap of time watching the fish in the pond. And can you tell he loves to swim?

As much as we were enjoying ourselves, there was one thing Stu and I couldn't agree on. One night I had left a bowl of fruit on the pavilion and the next morning I found one peeled banana skin on the floor. Stu insists it was a squirrel but surely only a monkey knows how to peel a banana, right? Stu's argument is that if it was a monkey, it would've taken the whole bunch. I reckon it just wasn't that hungry. What do you think? Squirrel or monkey?

Beautiful vacation.
I suppose it could have been either a squirrel or monkey.

Looks so very pretty, you won't have many more holidays laying about with your little one.

I don't think a monkey would just take one banana. Squirrels doesn't know how to peel a banana. I have the feeling it's another human who ate the banana. hehehe.

Looks like a fun holiday! Bintan is one of the beautiful islands that I've always wanted to visit and explore! :)

That photo of Alexander in the water makes me happy. Hahaha! So adorbs <3

And I'm definitely with the Monkey. Maybe it had visited other rooms previously so by the time it got to yours it was too full to eat more than one banana :P

Awesome! I visited Bintan two years ago and it was fantastic! I stayed on a resort owned by Nirwana! The sands are so creamy and clay like, absolutely love Bintans beaches! Looks like you guys had a great time!

Stunning place. I would love to hang out in the pool for sure. In that part of the World, it must be a monkey who ate that banana.

I vote one not very hungry monkey :) You guys pick the best spots, how awesome to have your own infinity pool and that they come and cooked dinner in your villa *gasp*

That's kind of creepy! Now I really hope it was a monkey or a squirrel

Rose, I'm not sure if its the Java side or not. I'm so lousy with geographic locations. But it's right next to batam, if that's any help?

My husband and I like to lie around and do nothing when we holiday as well. That villa looks incredible. I'm not sure if squirrels can peel bananas.

Most definitely a monkey, that is so funny! Your holiday sounds amazing, exactly the type I love. What a treat to get upgraded and have your dinner cooked by a chef in your villa. xo

Hi Trishie,

Spectacular photos of a gorgeous and tranquil place! Lucky you! Hmm...I'd have to say a mediocre hungry monkey, too!

Have a lovely Thursday!

Monkey! Sounds like a beautiful holiday you had. Doing nothing in luxurious surroundings is the best thing ever. I'm surprising the hubs with a birthday trip after our Singapore jaunt so can't wait to "do nothing" ;)

How lovely of you to do that! Enjoy, wherever you are headed
