Every time we go back to Singapore, we make it a point to visit one other country. We had enough of flying so this year, we opted to take a 45 minute ferry ride to Bintan, Indonesia instead. Not sure if you've noticed, but when Stu and I holiday, we like to just lie around and do nothing. We decided to splurge on a one bedroom villa at Banyan Tree Bintan so if we didn't want to leave the room, we wouldn't need to. Which is exactly what we did.
As it turned out, we got upgraded to a two bedroom villa. Which was massive. It had two separate wings housing the each of the bedroom and bathroom with a kitchenette and central pavilion which overlooks our private infinity pool and the ocean beyond. There was a even front courtyard with a pond filled with fish.
We swam, read, napped, stared out at the ocean and generally just lazed around in the beautiful tropical surroundings. We enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner the first night and indulged in room service meals. Alexander spent a heap of time watching the fish in the pond. And can you tell he loves to swim?

As much as we were enjoying ourselves, there was one thing Stu and I couldn't agree on. One night I had left a bowl of fruit on the pavilion and the next morning I found one peeled banana skin on the floor. Stu insists it was a squirrel but surely only a monkey knows how to peel a banana, right? Stu's argument is that if it was a monkey, it would've taken the whole bunch. I reckon it just wasn't that hungry. What do you think? Squirrel or monkey?
