Post pregnancy wardrobe changes

I have to admit that when some of you told me in this post that it'll be a while before I can start wearing pretty dresses and high heels again, I didn't believe you. Actually, make that I didn't want to believe you.

But you were right. With breastfeeding comes the need to wear nursing friendly tops and dresses (singlets, wrap and button up ones are good). Also, my belly did not magically disappear overnight like I'd hoped. Even now - nearly three months after having baby, I'm still sporting a little belly that I never used to have before. More importantly, getting spewed on, pooed on and peed on is such a common occurrence, I'm not taking the risk with my lovely silk/cashmere/pretty/dreamy dresses.

So what am I wearing these days, you ask? I've bought a few nursing tops and dresses (Dote makes a gorgeous range). These are SO handy as they are made with an opening that I lift up for discreet and convenient feeding. The most surprising wardrobe change for me, however, has been leggings. I've always stayed far far away from them, thinking one needs to be supermodel tall and thin to wear them nicely.  Turns out they don't look half bad on me. More importantly they're so comfortably stretchy, and with cute floral and polka dot prints like that, I'm SOLD.

Have you made any recent wardrobe changes too?

You look like a real "yummy mummy" in those cute leggings! I went through a similar wardrobe transformation after my girls were born, gone were the pencil skirts (impossible to sit on a floor to play with a toddler!) and on went the jeans and leggings. I did add some "statement pieces", such as a lovely wide wrap scarf-type thing which added some glamour to breastfeeding, but dangly earrings are a no-no for a baby learning to grasp...Chrissie x

You are too adorable! I love that last photo! I have been wearing more black leggings lately as well. They go great with boots :)

I don't have any experience with this but I do have friends who say that their entire wardrobes have to be changed after having babies, that last photo is beautiful.

I wore my pregnancy pants for a few months after the birth of my son. Still haven't wore heels and he's 1.5 years old...don't miss them at all though. You look radiant.

I love this pic of you with Alexander. So glad you found some clothes that work for you right now. I actually like leggings too, especially with a skirt or dress over the top. Although with a print like yours, it would be a shame to cover them up. Have a wonderful weekend Trishie. sparkle2day.com

Oh yes how I remember those days. I invested in some gorgeous breast feeding tops that I Gould wear with skirts and leggings, but do many outfits were ditched and I have to say that I still don't wear a great deal of them and that's 4 years down the line. I find I'm in a mess most if the time but that will change and the clothes will still be there waiting. Not so sure my tummy has ever been the same again. You're looking gorgeous in those fab pants!! Xoxo

Don't worry babe. I'm sure the little pouch will go. Just do more exercise like abs crunches (if you can). I've seen my friends who lost the post pregnancy weight and went back to normal.
Lately I'm into jackets and coat. Like as if I need it here but I've been finding reasons to buy it. Just in case I travel to a colder place so I'll get to wear it =D

You look super cute! I think our bodies are changing constantly... i'm going through a flowy blouse phase as anything that is super fitted just seems to amplify tummies...

Hi Trishie, I am a big fan of leggings as well. I don't know if they look good on me, but in the house I just can't pass them up for the pure comfort they offer. And they are very adaptable to the task at hand. I can do my house chores in them, do a quick Yoga practice, then tweak something in the garden and when I get out to get the mail my neighbors survive that to. I think PJ's would be much worth. Enjoy your time with your baby. It is so precious!
