One month

Can you believe this little guy is one month old already?
This is kind of a big milestone in Chinese tradition. If I was in Singapore, there would a ceremony to celebrate his first month of life; he would be formally introduced to the world, and gifts of cakes and eggs dyed red (to symbolise luck) would be given as gifts to friends and family. But because I'm not in Singapore, I'm simply celebrating this day with extra hugs and kisses.
It has been one month...of joy, of kisses and cuddles, of love that I've never experienced before. One month of pain, of sleepless nights, tears, countless nappy changes. One month of my very special baby boy. Looking forward to many, many more months and years and the rest of my life with you, my little Alexander

It's actually a little sad we don't have such traditions in Australia, I like the sound of doing little special things :)

Congratulations - and welcome to motherhood! You may think it's daft chatting away to a two-week-old, but experts say it's never to early to start up this vital interaction process as it will boost your baby's speech, language, and brain development. And quite apart from all that, your baby will simply love the sound of your voice - she knows it well enough by now, having heard it so much in the womb.

He's gorgeous. That one month celebration sounds awesome.

My advice? Don't blink. Suck in every moment. Even the sleepless ones. Before you know it, he'll be a toddler.

I look at my girl sometimes and I can't believe that this big girl was once the tiny baby I held and swaddled.

What a little doll! Loved learning about the Singapore traditions. Are you encouraged to keep babies at home until they are a month old? Not a bad idea with all the germs everywhere. I heard once that having a child is like living with your heart outside your body. I think that describes it well!

Hannapat said...

Such a beautiful post sweet Trishie. Little Alexander is so gorgeous and how lovely that you have this wonderful celebration in Singapore, maybe you can make him a little red egg out of fabric or yarn for his keepsake box. The first couple of months is hard and it does get better. Enjoy your little man and what a beautiful post to look back on one day. Much love xo
