In this moment

reading... The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. Sneaking in this read in between Alexander's feed; this is the second time I'm reading this book and it is still every bit as great a read as I remembered it.

excited about... every little outing with Alexander. A quick trip to the shops, a little coffee date, a walk in the neighbourhood - these little trips get me out of the house and adds variety to my day.

ordering... just about everything online these days. What I can't get out to buy, I buy online - baby stuff, groceries, clothes, household items.

planning... absolutely nothing. With a newborn, I've learnt even the best laid plans can go wrong. Best to play it by ear and go with the flow.

watching... the Bachelor Australia. It's so bad but I'm absolutely hooked. I watch it online on late nights while nursing.

dreaming about... changing nappies and nursing Alexander..only to wake up to have to do it for real.

baking... Adrian Zumbo's V8 cake consisting of 8 different vanilla layers each with a different texture that will take approximately 6 hours to make. (No - totally kidding. As if I have the time?!)

feeling... exhausted and dazed. But I'm told this will pass...yes?

wanting... to be the very best mother I can ever be.

grateful for... Stu's support and love.

loving... Alexander's little face, his ever changing expressions, his milky sweet smell.

collecting... precious moments with my baby boy.

What is happening in your moments?

I loved the glass castle!!! So good! May I recommend "Maiden Voyage" by Tania Aebi as well? I think it's out of print, but you can get used copies a lot of places. it's an amazing memoir. I'm rereading it to IC at the moment and LOVING IT.

What an awesome list.

I've seen this kinda of list around and I've been meaning to do one but can't seem to come up with a clever name for it. I love what you did with it btw.

The exhaustion will pass. Hang in there.

You're right to not make plans.

I loooved ordering online when I had a newborn too. It's addictive.

WHAT! you can watch the bachelor online? I love that show in all it's bad glory - we don't have a tellie at home, so i've been missing out...going to investigate online now!

btw you're a mumma power house Trishie! I've never been a Mum but there is a huge gap between me and my youngest brother (20 years) and I can say the first 6 months are crazy and that was from a sister perspective :P

It sounds wonderful and I'm glad you're getting out for little outings. One of my friends hadn't left her tiny NY apartment for the first 6 months except when I flew in and met her for dinner! It's so important to do nice things for yourself.

Trishie, what a lovely and sweet post - enjoy your time with your baby boy to the fullest - it is exhausting but wonderful. I have yet to read The Glass Castle but a book that I enjoy tremendously (again and again) is "Toast" by Nigel Slater.
Take good care of yourself and all the very best for your baby!

Lovely post and yes the inline shopping will continue for some time to come still. I remember the dreams about everything baby related, weird but good. Enjoy your predacious time and yes you will start feeling a little more human at some point in the near future, when he's. 20 (jokes) xxx
