Top 5 things I look forward to post pregnancy

I was at my friends' engagement party on the weekend, devouring most of their hard cheese and dutifully avoiding the soft cheese and cured meats when someone asked me what food I've missed the most since falling pregnant. Without hesitation, I said, soft cheese, smoked salmon, sashimi, oysters, champagne and strong, non-decaf coffee. And if/when I get the all clear for gestational diabetes, I want a nutella donut.

That conversation started a whole train of thought and I found myself thinking about (non-baby related) things that I would finally be able to do post-pregnancy. Here are the top 5 on my list...

1. Eat whatever I want (see above)
2. Star jump, hop, skip, twist, twirl, dance. Ah, to feel light again.
3. Wear dresses with waistlines that falls at my natural waist. With high heels.
4. Have a hot (not just warm) spa bath and with all the fancy lumbar jets.
5. Sleeping flat on my back.

Isn't it interesting how it is the simple pleasures that I look forward to the most. Are you looking forward to anything at the moment?

Hi sweety, I have no idea what I would be like if I was restricted from any type of coffee. All of your sacrifices and good eating habits will definitely pay off when your bundle of joy arrives.

i had to wait for years to wear dresses again, not the easiest to feed a baby in, skirts and tops are better, love my dresses now though!!!

There's a lot more awareness of what not to eat nowadays. I don't think I worried about anything but totally went off coffee, tea and vegemite!
I loved being able to sleep on my tummy again!
Stay well gorgeous x

I gave birth 8 weeks ago, and I am so enjoying all of those things. I especially missed sushi, smoked salmon and brie....oh and coffee, which I cut out completely. But it was all worth it now that I have my beautiful little boy in my arms. I have started drinking 1/2 cup a day, as I don't want my little boy to get a too big caffeine hit!!

Those are definitely things I enjoy so I am not ready for a baby yet! It's nice to reflect on the simple pleasures in life, pregnant or not. Soon you'll be sipping on coffee while wearing a cute dress. :)

Not long to wait now. I know I missed sleeping on my stomach when heavily pregnant.

oh i hear you! i missed wearing my high heels so much i HAD to strut around in them post-baby. even though its probably the worst idea to hold a brand new baby while wobbling around in heels! :)

p.s. cant wait to meet your bubba! xx

I can relate to everything on your list! Soft cheeses was a hard one for me as was the whole sleeping thing! Ha...it is the little things isn't it!?!?! Have a great week you!

I hear ya loud and clear. I think for me I really look forward to what you said as your second point. I feel so heavy and even changing from side to side in bed feels like a big exercise. And the pressure of the baby on my bladder - I will not miss that!! LOL! Ooo, and poached eggs and mayo would be what I would love to indulge in after giving birth.

I've always thought giving up coffee would be the hardest thing for me about being pregnant! And the sleeping as well. Seems like it would be so hard to get a good night's sleep with a huge belly and a baby moving around in there!

I am looking for the the time when the daughter gets to visit from college. She moved in in her dormitory the other day. The house is quieter and lonelier without her.

Ah I feel cruel saying I had sushi for lunch today but just imagine how amazing it will be when you do indulge in all your missed treats!

I remember when I broke my ankle and was restricted to semi-baths how much I looked forward to a long long shower! Of course now I take them for granted but my first shower was blissful!

Just think not only will you get to cross all your list off but you'll have a sweet baby too :)
How magical!

Iv never been pregnant but dont think I could go the 9 months + without enjoying a glass of wine with my meal that will be the hardest part of all!

Exactly what I dreamed about when I was pregnant, plus not having someone do somersaults inside me when I'm trying to sleep.
The natural waste line is a toughy though. I'm still dreaming of fitting into my old clothes one day. In the meantime I console myself with jewelry and tuna.

Good luck with your list.

Trishie what's this about Nutella doughnuts? Where can I get one of those? It can be hard to wear dresses (if you breastfeed) and wear heels when you carry the baby, I'm afraid those can drag on bit. You're bound to enjoy getting back into salmon, ham and soft cheese straight away though. Spa sounds great! I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes quickly for you, and your little one behaves so you can catch up on some rest and spa time!
