Beauty review: Alexami Cosmetics

I always knew it was only a matter of time before I started using natural makeup. The only problem was finding a reputable brand that I could trust. Then I came across Alexami Mineral Cosmetics - proudly Australian owned with a mission to create irritant-free beauty products that are safe to use. Lucky for me, I was given the pleasure of trialing some of their products recently.
First up, I'm going to start with Alexami's Perfect Puff Minerals Foundation, as it was for me, the most outstanding product. For years, I've avoided loose powder foundations because 1. They are messy. 2. They don't provide enough coverage. 3. They are drying and don't suit my dehydrated skin.

This loose mineral powder foundation not only debunked all of my preconceptions, it also functions as a concealer, finishing powder and offers natural high sun protection! The easy use powder puff provided easy application without the mess and allows for layering product on for more coverage, if required. Skin looks soft and radiant and feels incredible - non of that tight, I'm-wearing-powdered-foundation feeling.
Alexami also does a beautiful Perfect Puff Mineral Blush, which is quick and easy to apply and compact enough to fit into my handbag for handy touch ups throughout the day. The puff application makes it easy to blend without being messy. And the coral pink shade is SO perfect and pretty and provides a natural pink flush to my face.

I also got to trial Alexami's range of loose Mineral Eye Shadow pots in Chestnut and Soft peach. I'm glad I got these colors because they're so pretty and lends a nice shimmer to the eyes and both colors look so great together. The only problem is the first couple of times I used them, I found them quite messy to use. With a little practice (plus with tissue under the eyes), I found it was no longer a issue. On a side note, I used Alexami's angle brush and shader brush - part of their Vegan makeup brush set for my eye make up application. The angle brush was excellent for lining under the eyes with the darker Chestnut shade and the shader brush for blending both colors together (blended really well, by the way).
Have you tried mineral make up before? What are your thoughts on them? Did you know that the average woman ingests around 2 kilograms of chemicals via her skin each year from cosmetics like makeup, skin care lotions, and hair products? I was so shocked to find out and even more glad than before to be on a natural, no chemicals beauty regime.

thanks for the review. I've steered clear of loose foundations as I always felt it looked caked on. I love the applicator for the blush and it looks such a pretty colour!

Such pretty colors! I find mineral cosmetics to be less drying with better pigmentation and staying power. So freaked about about the chemical ingestion from beauty products!

I've never tried mineral makeup before let alone a loose powder foundation. My friend has and her skin always looks flawless and fresh minus the makeup look! This looks like something I'd try x

I wish more woman knew that they were taking in harsh chemicals with their beauty products but they don't. This looks like a wonderful line. I have never tried the powder foundation before but have always been curious about it! I would love to try something like this!!!

I've always been curious about them but never tried it because of my sensitive skin. You're review is brilliant, I might just give it a go next time I'm out cosmetic shopping!

I definitely like the idea of natural make up. Loose products always worry me a bit because of the mess factor. Great that the puff works so well. On YouTube girls often spray a setting spray on their eye shadow brush before picking up the loose shadow. The shadow sticks to the brush instead of falling off everywhere. I haven't tried it, but it looks like it works well. Great review. These Alexami Cosmetics products look really nice!

I've been using a handmade natural mineral make-up brand for around two years - which sadly is no longer available, I'm dreading trying to find a new brand when my stock-pile runs out! - I've tried other brands but neither of them were all that great (Nude I found quite powdery & I've tried The Body Shop which I found a poor match for my skin tone & it went greasy-looking after a few hours of wear).

A tip for mineral makeup application - especially eye shadows, use a dampened brush! Use a mister/spray bottle to avoid adding too much moisture. Alternatively, if you add a little extra water it gives the shadow a metallic finish ;-)

But there seems to be so many more natural & non-toxic brands available these days.

Yes that is the thing with loose powders they can be very messy. Perhaps they read this and consider pressed versions of their products. I personally prefer pressed. Love their logo!

This line looks great! I love that they have a vegan makeup brush set. I do use mineral makeup (Bare Minerals) and have for several years now. I have oily skin, so I can't use liquid foundation. Loose powder foundation tends to work best with my skin.

Wow, thanks for opening my eyes regarding make-up absorption. I have never tried mineral beauty products but would love to try some. These ones look almost 'delicious'!

I use mineral make up everyday. I love it and it doesn't dry out my skin like a lot of regular makeup does :)

These are beautiful shades and I love that they are natural and do not irritate your skin. I have sensitive skin and have to be so careful with my products.
