Babymoon weekender: Jonah's

I was almost convinced that Stu and I had missed our opportunity to go on a babymoon of any kind - being so close to the baby's due date and still having all the pending work we'd hoped to do around the house (laundry renovation being one). But...Stu and I put our foot down and finally set aside a weekend to go away before the baby arrives.

I wanted to be near the beach. It didn't bother me one bit that it's the middle of winter and honestly, it could be raining for all I care. I just knew I wanted to be somewhere where I could look out the window and see the ocean and fill my lungs with salty sea air. As it turns out, we couldn't have picked a better (or warmer) weekend to spend at Jonah's, Whale Beach.
We haven't had a weekend where Stu wasn't building or fixing something, and I wasn't cleaning some part of the house, so it was amazing to go away and do leisurely things. The whole point of this weekend was to spend time together so we read magazines, talked about our future, planned imaginary future holidays and managed not to do a single bit of work.

Also, we watched the sky change from blue to yellow to orange to pink to lilac and grey before settling into pitch darkness. That night, we got all dressed up and enjoyed an indulgent dinner at Jonah's restaurant.
The next morning, we sat at Jonah's beautiful dining room overlooking the beach and had the most fantastic two course breakfast. We wrapped up the trip with a walk (waddle for me) on Palm Beach...the same spot where we went on one of our first dates some six years ago! We sat down in the sun, held hands and enjoyed the warmth of the sun on our faces. This is one weekend I'll remember and cherish forever; it is so much more precious as it will be a while until the next one like this.

Glad you managed to squeeze in your babymoon. It's not a "must-have" per se, but it's sooooooo nice if you could. Sounds like you had a lovely laid back time. You guys are so productive on the weekends. Sometimes the hubs and I just watch a lot of TV and then go out for dinner. We have only just started buying bits and pieces for the nursery.
