Halfway there

Here's a little first look at my baby bump. (Can you believe I'm already halfway there?)
Stu and I went for our 2nd trimester scan this morning. It was an emotional event especially for Stu as the last time he came along, our baby was just a blob with a heartbeat. This time, the little one is fully formed and moving around with proper little arms and legs and hands and feets.

I think it is harder for men to connect with the reality of having a baby as they are one step removed from the pregnancy process. Stu confessed to me that seeing the scans today made it more real for him, and he is even more freaked out now than before. Which is normal and sweet and makes me want to laugh at him.
Today I would like to share some random bits and pieces about my pregnancy just in case you're interested....

1. Boy or girl, you ask? Well, we have decided to wait to find out, so we'll both have a nice little surprise on the delivery day. I'm not too concerned about buying gender specific colours for my baby - it's not like he or she will care! I rather have baby things in a spectrum of colours instead of all pink or all blue things.

2. Can I just say I'm enjoying the second trimester so very much? I feel full of life again and my appetite has returned. My emotions are in check and I feel good about myself.

3. My ever growing baby bump gives me pride and I love patting it so much. Though I must confess when I see the reflection of a pregnant lady in a shop window or mirror, it is still shocking to realise that that person is actually me.

4. I may be pregnant but I'm still very vain. I'm still wearing my usual makeup and taking care of my general appearance, in fact I seem to favour brighter lip colours these days. It makes me happy.

5. Speaking of vain, when I outgrew my regular clothes a few weeks ago, I was absolutely devastated. I struggled to find clothes that fit and didn't look tacky. Thank goodness that I found out about Soon Maternity (via Ronnie's blog), which stocks lots of beautiful stylish maternity wear. I bought 2 dresses so far (including the one pictured) and I love them both.

6. In terms of cravings - it varies day by day and is normally extremely specific. Last week I wanted, no, actually make it needed banana and chocolate. Before that, I was hankering after pandan chiffon cake. Other times it was vegemite toast or banana smoothie or Hawaiian pizza (I usually don't even eat pineapples).

7. We have not started on the nursery yet as we're waiting to finish with the current bathroom renovations and the fitting of new carpets and curtains before we do so. But I'm very much looking forward to putting the room together!

8. I'm only just starting to feel movements from within but sometimes I'm not sure if it's baby or just gas!
Are you pregnant now, like me? Or already had your baby? If yes, I would love to hear about your pregnancy too!

You look stunning! And I don't think I congratulated you yet, so congrats:D

And I think it's nice that you're waiting with the gender and everything. If it were me I don't think I'd want to know yet either. And I agree, all blues or all pinks is a bit outdated. Can't wait to see how you'll decorate the nursery though!

Aww... it is lovely to see your baby bump, Trishie, and your happy smiley face. Expecting mums are just so radiant at times. I'm happy to see beaming mummies.

Where is your Pinterest? I was searching your blog for it after seeing your comment. Do you wanna follow each other on Pinterest?

You look so adorable. Do most of your friends tell you it's a boy? That you look like your having a boy? Only because your carrying right out in front like a little basketball and everywhere else you do not look pregnant :)

When I was pregnant with my daughter I had this strong feeling it was a girl and indeed I was right.
Have fun decorating a nursery and picking out all those wonderful names.
What names on on your list ?

Have a beautiful week, and thank you dearly for taking the time to visit me and leaving such a beautiful comment.

You look lovely - and happy. Congratulations. I've had two pregnancies - what they say is true - get your sleep now because you won't get it after the baby is born! :) But, it won't matter, because all you will care about is looking at that sweet face.

It took me awhile to know for sure if that was my baby moving or not too.

Don't worry, before you know it that sweet little thing will be kicking you good. : )

My baby use to kick the tar out of me. But I loved it. I loved the reassurance that she was healthy and tough.

You look awesome btw.

Oh my goodness, you look so beautiful and beaming with happiness. I'm so happy for both you and Stu! Can't wait to follow you through the rest of the journey.

I love your idea about waiting to know the gender, I think having many colors and not just gender specific is such a great idea. xx

You look so beautiful and happy! Really gorgeous! Of course you can be vain! I smiled when I read you look in a shop's mirror and realize it's you! I am also glad your husband went with you and felt so connected - and that your emotions are OK, I can imagine how hormones play a trick on women at this time! Pineapple? I like, but don't eat very much, so if you ate that, I can say it's a "pregnancy wish!" :) You really look amazing and ah - just saw your living room, very elegant!

You look gorgeous! And that dress is perfection.

I'm also pregnant, but its my third, so I'm not even sure how far along I am (you stop counting when you get to number 3), I think sometime around the 24ish week mark! I'm so happy that the hazy, messiness of the first trimester is over and I'm just starting to feel the nesting urge start. I love nesting!

Aww......it's lovely to see your little bump and you're looking gorgeous! I already have 2 kids...and reading your pregnancy journal brings back all the wonderful memories when I was expecting. :) For my first one, we didn't find out the gender of the baby until he arrived. :) And it was a boy. But he showed up in my dream one day when I as carrying him, so I already know it's a boy. For the 2nd time around, I wanted a girl so badly so I didn't couldn't wait to find out the gender, isn't that funny. But I think it was a nice decision to keep a little surprise, especially for your first baby. :)

Enjoy every moment! The baby will be here sooner than you know. ;)

Congratulations Trishie! It's been a while since I visited your blog and I'm so sorry I loose track due to something pretty major which happened to me few weeks ago. All is good now.
I'm so happy to see that you are halfway there! =D Excited for you. I've not gone through pregnancy before and I'm not sure if I ever will due to selfish reason, but I've friends who had great pregnancy and some did not. There's a particular friend who craves for curry laksa a lot! Yes, like everyday a lot! LOL! So since you cook, you know how fattening that bowl of noodle can be so she had a pretty heavy pregnancy and it was hard for her to loose her weight after but the baby turns out healthy. I'm wishing you the best and stay healthy =)
