While walking

Frankie and I have been taking full advantage of these long summer days, going on slow leisurely walks around the neighbourhood. Frankie sees it as a opportune time to sniff out the other dogs in the hood and have a bark at one or two, of course. I see it as my time out, to gather my thoughts, take deep breaths and observe my surroundings. And that's how I came across these little pretties that I couldn't help collecting.
Pinecones collected at the start of 2013 when summer was at it's hottest, followed by the littlest gumnuts still green in mid January. Come Febuary - the first of liquid amber seed balls have dropped. I love that these bits and pieces reflect the seasons and flora of my neighbourhood.

Have you been collecting anything lately?

What lovely little treasures! I've just started collecting bits to put into a book - sort of a visual journal, month by month. I plan on writing about it soon on my blog, so it'll be explained better then and I'll hopefully have some pics to show!

Happy new week!

Walking in the warm air is the best way to relax and clear your head. What a pretty collection you have, Trishie. We could never do this because my fiance would never stop sneezing! We will have to find something else to collect on our walks.

Gorgeous! Last Easter we collected lots of sticks/branches of the gumnutty ones and put them into a vase then hung mini easter eggs off them. It looked really nice, very easter-y but very Aussie too! And when i was in primary school a lot of people would spray paint them and use them for hanging Christmas decorations.

Awaking the dog is always a fun activity for me too. I agree with you that it is quite relaxing and always one to think or empty the mind. Wow, your collection is amazing.

I often find myself collecting bits of bark for decoration in my home. I collected pine cones one winter for Christmas decor!

I love your findings! What do you have planned for them? :)

Beauties made by nature! Love it how you display your findings. I haven't collected anything new recently as I'm still dedicated to my minimalist lifestyle ;)

Those seed pods look interesting!! Once upon a time I collected rocks. There are a lot of strange rocks where I am from in Rockland, but alas lately haven't been collecting much. I need to start again! =)

These are amazing! And I love those gumnuts. I don't think we have them here, but if we did I'd totally snag some twigs to put in a pretty vase<3

I love gumnuts! They're so damn cute :)
I don't really collect anything... I guess old magazines, buttons, and foreign money from our travels? I used to collect all my train tickets, but gave that up.
OH! I collect movie stubs :) I have all of them from 2005 to the present day.

OMG I'm jealous. They are such beautiful tiny things you found. I wish the weather would turn warmer soon and snow could melt so I can start getting out for some fresh spring air
