Frankie and I have been taking full advantage of these long summer days, going on slow leisurely walks around the neighbourhood. Frankie sees it as a opportune time to sniff out the other dogs in the hood and have a bark at one or two, of course. I see it as my time out, to gather my thoughts, take deep breaths and observe my surroundings. And that's how I came across these little pretties that I couldn't help collecting.
Pinecones collected at the start of 2013 when summer was at it's hottest, followed by the littlest gumnuts still green in mid January. Come Febuary - the first of liquid amber seed balls have dropped. I love that these bits and pieces reflect the seasons and flora of my neighbourhood.
Have you been collecting anything lately?

What lovely little treasures! I've just started collecting bits to put into a book - sort of a visual journal, month by month. I plan on writing about it soon on my blog, so it'll be explained better then and I'll hopefully have some pics to show!
Happy new week!

Walking in the warm air is the best way to relax and clear your head. What a pretty collection you have, Trishie. We could never do this because my fiance would never stop sneezing! We will have to find something else to collect on our walks.

Gorgeous! Last Easter we collected lots of sticks/branches of the gumnutty ones and put them into a vase then hung mini easter eggs off them. It looked really nice, very easter-y but very Aussie too! And when i was in primary school a lot of people would spray paint them and use them for hanging Christmas decorations.
this is beautiful! love to get things from nature too!
Awaking the dog is always a fun activity for me too. I agree with you that it is quite relaxing and always one to think or empty the mind. Wow, your collection is amazing.
I often find myself collecting bits of bark for decoration in my home. I collected pine cones one winter for Christmas decor!
I love your findings! What do you have planned for them? :)
Beauties made by nature! Love it how you display your findings. I haven't collected anything new recently as I'm still dedicated to my minimalist lifestyle ;)

Nice pinecones by the way.
And right now I am collecting lovely nailart designs, I print them and file them, I plan to use them when I start my nail spa business.
I sometimes grab cuttings from pretty plants and try to grow them! x
I don't really dare to collect more things and put it at home because my bf said I'm a pack-rat! =D
P.S. Regarding your previous post, it's great to know that you are one that appreciate life itself =)

I love the little seed balls - Australia's seed pods are just so unique to anything I ever saw in the US I'm always just quite fascinated by them.
