Summertime

We just had one of those uncharacteristically cold, wet summer weekend which had me reaching out for my woolies as if we're in the throes of winter. It made me shudder to realise that we're in the last few weeks of summertime and makes me want to cling on to that hot dry summer feeling even more.

Summer always feels like one big holiday where the days stretch out for (seemingly) ever and stay oh-so-warm. There is the sense of freedom to do as much or as little as one fancied since there's no rush to get home before dark, no fear that the air will get too cold; the sun sets at 8pm and dinners can happily start at 9pm.

What I'll miss most about summer, I think is eating outdoors, wearing summer dresses, eating freshly cooked prawns and icy pops, the feeling of warm sand under my feet, the splash of cool salty water on my hot skin.

What will you miss most about summertime?

These beach shots are gorgeous! We are still in the throes of winter in NYC so I'm actually looking forward to summer. I love the long lingering days the most.

It never ceases to amaze how the world works...It's so crazy to me to think the other half of the world is having summer while we in the U.S. are in winter. I miss the summer dresses and walking outside!!

That beach is gorgeous! I wish I was sunbathing right now there! =)

Yes, I have enjoyed simmer this year, not that I have done much. I haven't been to the beach, but the thought that I could is enough. I'm not ready for the cooler months yet :)

Your photos are so refreshing to stare at. In the Middle East, it's always summery (it rains more or less three times a year), depending on the heat levels with the "summer" period boiling hot. We dress light all year round except for the very short cold season.

It's below freezing over here in the middle of winter, so I definitely miss the warmer temperatures!

I miss summer! I can't wait for it. I miss the constant heat (although it's always warm in my country) that brings joy to my skin.

Oh I wish we'd had a cold snap as everyone else is talking of lol!
But as much as I want Autumn to hurry along, we really need some more rain to get the cattle through the dry.

Have a lovely day!

I know I dont want summer to end! I will miss being able to sit under the patio after dark in just a singlet and shorts or summer dress ... and heading out at night without having to wear a big heavy jacket!

We're just in the last throes of winter here and I can't wait for things to warm up a little. I've loved the snow but hated being cold and wrapping in so many layers to leave the house!

It's winter over here! Although I can't really say it's winter since the weather has been extra warm! It gets super hot here in the summertime, but I do love the longer days.

I can't believe it's already Feb! Time flies. I will miss eating fruits - e.g. watermelon, mangoes. The beach, summer dresses...most importantly the sun.

I can hardly wait till we get summer again. Looking out of my window now, all I see is this wet snow that just doesn't stick.

What I love most about summer is the feeling that you have all the time in the world. Just walking through the park and feeling the warm air on your skin and not having to worry about any to-do lists:)

I think I'll miss only having to put 1 or 2 layers on the boys. Dressing them takes sooo much time every morning and every night.

All gorgeous! I didn't get dressed up for our formal either (bought a cheap $40 dress from Dotti, can you believe it), and I have to say I kind of do regret it a bit now too!

I am so happy to hear that you Aussies get the occasional cold and wet summer weekend too!! Our British summers are so unpredictable that we expect rain and are ecstatic if we get anything else. Here, we're wishing winter would hurry up and end so that we can look forward to spring.
