The Purist Company

The really nice folks at The Purist Company read about how much I loved A'kin's Pure Alchemy Cellular Radiance Serum and Rose de mai Anti-oxidant Day Creme in this post,...and they very kindly gave me the third of their star products - the A'kin Rose and Geranium Pure Creamy Cleanser and Toner in One.

I am ever so happy they did that because this is one of the best cleaners I have ever used. It is creamy and gentle and has a beautiful rose scent. I use it daily to remove my makeup and my skin has been thanking me for it since.
In addition, I was given the chance to trial Al'chemy's range of haircare products, also by the Purist Company.

For years, I have had a very embarrassing scalp problem. I have been told by a number of hairdressers that my scalp is well...sticky and oily  (told you it was embarrassing!). This problem was compounded by the fact that my hair ends are awfully dry and damaged from years of colouring, straightening and perming. In short: not good.

Upon assessment of my hair condition, I was recommended the following products:
Al’chemy Lemongrass Shampoo - formulated for combination hair with oily scalp, I found this shampoo to be an invigorating wash that foamed gently and had the most gorgeous lemongrass scent. Best of all, my scalp condition really did improve after a week of use - it was no longer irritated nor oily.

Al’chemy Avocado & Calendula Re-Moisturising Conditioner - this product worked beautifully  with my dry long hair. It felt just rich enough to soften and re-hydrate but not overly so that it became oily. After rinsing, my hair felt clean, soft and was tangle free.

Al’chemy Lavender & Anthyllis Intensive Moisture Leave-In Conditioner -  I don't know if anyone else does this, but I double condition my hair. Yes, I have been using a rinse-off and a leave-in conditioner. I use the leave-in one on towel-dried hair - just a tiny amount to evenly spread on the ends of the hair. The result? Shiny and healthy looking hair.

Did you know that The Purist Company also has a Pure Therapy range for extremely dry and sensitive skin, as well as a men's range - pureMAN?
For the last few weeks, I have been applying the Pure Therapy Deep Restore Skin Concentrate on the dry bits of skin around my nose which was flaky and red. I have since noticed a reduction in redness. I am pretty impressed with how this concentrate was very quickly absorbed by the skin and how lovely it smells (like chamomile!). The dry patch is since gone, but I'm glad to have this handy for if or when it re-appears.

And finally...I got Stu to trial the pureMAN Visibly fit moisturiser. When I asked him for some feedback, I got three words: "It feels nice". With some prompting and prodding on my part, I also found out that the product "is not oily, which is nice". I guess Stu will never be good at writing product reviews but the fact that he has been using the product daily tells me a lot. Action really does speak louder than words.

Have you tried any new products lately?

I haven´t but I really should - my skin has become much drier lately thanks to the winter coldness. Hate when that happens! :-/

I never considered double conditioning. It sounds like a good idea and I should give it a try! Great product review. xo

Great review Trishie. I have sensitive skin which is prone to redness so if I find something that works for me, I'm not keen to try new something new. These products sound very nice though so I might give them a try, I am after a new daytime moisturiser.

I like the packaging of the Alchemy haircare products seen here. Sucker for packaging! :D

Just took a second look at the men's moisturiser and noticed the "target signs of ageing" :D That speaks to me, too.

Still using the Nutriganics range I bought from The Body Shop. I tend to buy in bulk, so it saves me from shopping :D

Oh I'm so envious! I absolutely love this brand (for its hair care range particularly - I don't use facial cleansers anymore, much to the pleasure of my skin) and would love to use it more often! It's just so darned expensive. Lucky girl!

This sounds great. I like to try new products because I have fairly sensitive skin.

P.S. By the way I didn't get to see that little church across from Ground Zero but now I wish I saw it.

I've got the same problem with oily scalp. I don't know how some people can only wash once a week because mine starts to get a little greasy by the 2nd day. I've been thinking of trying the A'kin hair care for quite sometime now. Will definitely purchase a bottle when I've run out of my Burts Bee ones.

Vanisha @ Vanishas Life In...Australia said...

I've seen these products/this range a fair bit but I'm always so skeptical about trying new products, especially ones I haven't really heard of. I'm cautious about the skincare products but I'll happily try the hair care ones to see how I go. Stu's response made me smile, I think my husband would be the same!
