|Hunter Valley hot air balloon festival|
Our experience started as the first rays of the sun appeared at the horizon at the Hunter Valley airport, our launching point. The balloon is so much bigger in reality than I've ever imagined, so the set up process was quite cumbersome and required real team effort. First the balloon was laid on the ground and attached to the burners. Stu helped out by holding up the side of the balloon while a fan inflates it with air. Then loud bursts of flames was used to heat up the air until the balloon lifts off the ground.

The whole flight lasted about 45 minutes. As we made our descent, I could see numerous, enormous patches of cow poo and kept thinking how hilarious it would be if we landed on some. Well, turned out we miraculously managed to dodge them all. We did get an excellent pilot.
