12 things: drink champagne!

I decided at the beginning of the year that I would make it my mission to drink lots of champagne as part of my 12 things for 2012. Stu showed his support by buying me lots of champagne and we have been having a ridiculously good time drinking it.
Champagne to be drunk
To be very honest, I am not 100% why I decided to do this. I don't even drink a lot of alcohol to begin with. I suspect it has something to do with how champagne is associated with celebrations and I just wanted to have an excuse to celebrate Mondays, Tuesdays, humpdays, weekends and everyday life. In any case, drinking champagne for no reason has become one of my great indulgences.
Champagne/bubbly drank
If you are familiar with my 12 things then you should know that number 10 of the list is to find the best champagne in the world (that I can afford) and then drink it. In hindsight, I feel a little bit frivolous and silly about putting something so extravagant on my list when I obviously do not have a spare $20,000 lying around to spend on fancy champagne. But I figure I can only buy what I can afford, so what's the harm in finding the best in my price range for future reference?

So far, the best champagne I've had the pleasure of drinking has to be the 2002 vintage dom pérignon, épernay. I'm no expert so I really don't know how to explain why - except it was so so nice and so so easy to drink.

Do you like to drink champagne? Is there any particular one you would recommend?

I do LOVE a good glass of champagne! I can't say which is my favorite brand since I expecially love to have mimosas and bellinis (which are mixed w/champagne). I always think Veuve Clicquot is tasty and started drinking Frexinet when I was much younger after seeing Martha Stewart name it her fave budget champs.

You don't need any reasons why to drink champagne. Very often we have a bottle at home with my family during weekdays for no reason. I like Veuve C., Moet and Piper. My mum travels to Reims (Champagne region in France) and buys boxes directly from producers. Life is too short not to have a glass or two or more :)

Aw this is a really cute thing to do--I like that you associate it with celebrations and wanted an excuse to celebrate every day. Though I won't be drinking champagne everyday, I think everyone could always find more things to celebrate about :D

And I honestly don't like champagne...to dry and bubbly--but then again, I've only had the cheapo kind :P

How awesome! Love this goal. I have a special bottle of Dom waiting to be popped. I was going to do it for my birthday but was too busy running around. We're thinking of opening it this weekend finally :)

I'm not that big of a champagne drinker but the idea of celebrating on a more regular basis is something I can get behind. In fact, I have two bottles of the stuff chilling in the fridge right now

Call me crazy but I'm not much of a champagne fan. I prefer prosecco.

The bone marrow took on the taste of the herbs it was roasted with. The texture is kind of grainy and airy at the same time and the consistency is rich and fatty.

Champagne is one of my indulgences too. Or rather, sparkling wine too. I don't have it often but it's nice to treat yourself to something bubbly every once in awhile ;) I think your goal is completely sane =)

haha! thats the funniest new year resolution. i hardly drink these days, but i LOVE champagne for special occasions.
Actually I have never tasted a real champagne that I didn't like ; )

I'm allergic to alcohol but lately, I see to want to keep trying different types of white wines and prosecco. A sip and then a puff on the inhaler. Yeah, rather sick, I know. I haven't really ventured too much into champagne only because I'm sure it'll be downhill from there - money wise :P

i like champagne as part of a celebration, but one of my favorite times enjoying champagne was "just because" on a random summer day :)

Hi sweety, I actually am not a drinker, but I would say coffee is my equivalent! P.S Thanks so much for your lovely insight on my last post :)

Now that is my kind of resolution. I support you 100%. Can I get an invitation to your next bubbly tasting party. Can't say I have any awesome recommendations. I usually just get the cheap stuff.

Michelle said...

this is probably the GREATEST GOAL EVER. i once read on tumblr that you should always keep champagne in the fridge to celebrate. because sometimes the celebration is that you have champagne in the fridge.

littlemissandrea said...

It's always great to celebrate anything! It really lightens the mood and makes the week so much better.. especially when you celebrate humpday ;)

I'm not a big alcohol person either, but I'm trying to get myself to get into wine & champagne.. I'll have to get some recs from you!

I second Miss K and Michelle's comments! I really should have a bottle of Champagne just because. We had something to celebrate recently but didn't have a bottle. Fail.

Love this post - so decadent! I adore champagne but my husband can't stand it. I can't justify buying it for myself alone, so save it for Christmas and birthdays.

Have you tried Prosecco? I love it. A (good) prosecco it so light and refreshing and delicious, and half the price. x

This is quite possibly the best goal I have ever seen! And I love Michelle's comment about keeping a bottle in the fridge at all times. I feel the need to go out and buy a bottle of Moet now!
