Marina bay sands

I drafted this post way back in December last year, but somehow got distracted and forgot to post it. I was about to trash it today when I decided that no good service (as with all good things) should go unmentioned. So here's a long belated post about my stay at Marina Bay Sands, albeit 6 months later...

Marina Bay Sands

There are a few magic words that would make any holidaymaker's heart sing. One of them is "I would like to give you a free upgrade". So when Stu and I heard these very words during our check in at Marina Bay Sands, it was quite simply, music to our ears.

And what an upgrade it was. We stayed in the Sands Suite on level 48 with sensational views. Our butler gave us a grand tour; not such a ridiculous idea considering the suite was massive and featured 2 bathrooms, 3 balconies, a games room, a massive bedroom and an even bigger lounge/ dining area. There was a even pool table in our suite. Oh. My. God. I have never had my own personal pool table before.

As soon as we were alone, I did a great deal of dancing, skipping, running and squealing in the suite. Even Stu did a little happy dance of his own. Can you blame us?

As much as we wanted to spend all our time in our beautiful comfortable enormous suite, we did managed to drag ourselves away to have some complimentary afternoon tea, pre-dinner drinks and breakfasts at The Club on the rooftop sky garden. The food was delicious, by the way.

It wouldn't be right if we did not go for a swim in the infinity pool that Marina Bay Sands is renown for. We woke up at 6 in the morning to escape the crowd and watched this beautiful city wake up. Some people say Singapore is a city that doesn't sleep, but I disagree. It was so peaceful and the streets below were empty at that time of day. It was amazing as well as refreshing to see Singapore in such a entirely different light.

Marina Bay Sands exceeded all of my expectations; it was just splendid and lovely and the service we received was top notch from check in to check out. And there was a truly proud moment when I said to Stu: this is the city in which I grew up.
