Speaking of chocolate, there was a little chocolate brown new arrival that came with a waggly tail!

My dismal attempt at making a rainbow cake. A labour of love which somehow ended up looking a lot like my kitchen sponge. Now let's laugh and never speak of this again.

The sky stayed a brilliant dazzling blue most of the weekend

Perfect for a BBQ with friends. Not wanting to settle for the typical Aussie sausage sizzle, I prepared skewers of chilli and lime rump steak, prawns (not pictured), and chicken, oregano and haloumi, as well as a healthy green salad.

I don't know if it's ever alright to say this (lest I jinx myself) but I'm going to say it anyway.
Sometime during the BBQ, while I was sitting in my sunny backyard, laughing with my favourite friends, puppy in lap, tummy full, chocolate on my lips and a drink in my hand, I realised in that one moment that I am well and truly blessed; I am so happy and contented with my life right now. And knowing that feels pretty darn nice.

I'm sorry about your rainbow cake but I think it's ok to laugh at certain small failures. It's alright to have some funny memories :))) Next time you'll get it perfectly right for sure :)

Your rainbow cake looks great but I had to laugh because I tried to make a coloured layer cake and it was a disaster!
