Here's something you didn't know about me and Stu; we went out on our first date because of a cake. He had brought me a slice of his homemade cheesecake and after I'd commented on how good it tasted, he leaned forward, stared straight into my eyes and offered to teach me how to bake. But, on the condition that "we go on a proper date first".At that point, we had been flirting rather shamelessly for about 6 months so I promptly said yes, and we proceeded to go on our first date to Manly beach (which lasted 7 hours, by the way) and the rest, as you know, is history.
So, amongst our friends and family, baking has always been seen as a "Stu specialty", not mine. And I must say I have always been far more comfortable making savory dishes than baking cakes. But that's about to change. With practice, comes perfection. Last year I successfully made this pistachio cake and this black forest cake and this peachy lemon cake and became much more confident about my baking skills. This year, I plan to bake much more, so things can only get better right? Stay tuned.
