The last week or so

Stu and I escaped the city crowd over the silly season and found ourselves a cosy little lakehouse at Lake Macquarie, just 2 hours north of Sydney.

With the lake right at our doorstep, we enjoyed lazy sleep-ins, did lots of reading and ventured to the neighbouring vineyards for some wine tasting.I scoured the lake for fresh oysters but found mostly discarded oyster shells. I love the iridescent nacre on the inside of each shell.
We took the boat out fishing but also spent much of our time watching other boats go past our backyard.
All in all, a very lovely break. It just seemed to go far too quickly, as good times always do.
