A taste of home

I woke up on Saturday morning with sudden pangs of homesickness; Stu felt sorry for me so we cooked and ate Singapore style all day.
For brunch: roti pratha eaten with fish curry and soft boiled egg topped with dark soy and a dash of white pepper.
For dinner: Hainanese chicken rice, served with cucumber and tomatoes, accompanied by dark soy, pounded ginger and chilli sauce.

Not quite the same as being in Singapore, but it'll do for now.

How do you cope with homesickness?

That spread looks delicious! When I lived away from my family I used to watch a movie that we loved when I missed them!

I usually cope with food too! When I was abroad I used to cope with it by making a hamburger and drinking a Coke, or eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. When I was in college, I'd make my Mom's wontons.

I hope you feel better after your meal.

ooh delicious. I interned in my home city this summer, which meant authentic Chinese food for 3 months! I'd crave it so much in New York, so it was such a treat. :)

That is so sweet Stu did that for you!
I have never been homesick before (being a kid at camp doesn't count!) but I would love to have a friend to be there for me like that.

When I'm homesick, I go find things to appreciate about the place I in which I currently reside. I WISH my home food was as beautiful and healthy as yours! Mine really only comes deep fat fried, super sweet, or sauteed in bacon drippings :o). Gotta love it though.
